Childcare Qualifications at Mother’s Touch International Academy (MTIA)

Since October 2014, University Preparation College (UPC) has delivered Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30313) and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50113) at MTIA in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

In February 2018, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) ruled that the workplace components of both qualifications should be assessed in Australian regulated childcare centres.

New Childcare Courses at MTIA

Responding to ASQA’s ruling, UPC has withdrawn the qualifications and replaced them with two equivalent non-accredited courses, Certificate for Early Childhood Teachers (UECE318) and Diploma for Early Childhood Teachers (UECE518).

The two new courses are delivered and assessed following Australian VET standards except their workplace components are assessed in the Sri Lankan environment.

Pathways to Australian NRT (Nationally Recognised Training) Qualifications

Students who have successfully completed these UPC courses at MTIA can apply for recognition and workplace training in Australia (120 hours for CHC30113 and 240 hours for CHC50113). Upon successfully completing the training, they will be awarded the corresponding NRT qualifications.
