Introduction

Studying English is crucial for international students. English proficiency is needed to follow VET and university courses, and to find employment after graduation. It is especially important for those seeking permanent residency in Australia, as integration into Australian society requires strong English skills.

Moreover, English serves as a global communication tool, allowing students to access vast amounts of knowledge and connect with people worldwide. Mastering English opens doors to academic and professional opportunities, making it an essential skill for success in today’s interconnected world.

Course Overview

UPC College offers two English programs to support your Australian journey. The English for Higher Education program prepares you for studying VET and bachelor courses, while the Preparation for IELTS program helps you with your application for permanent residency if you choose to make Australia your second home.

The English for Higher Education (EHE) program starts at the elementary level (Entry level is a 3.5 IELTS score) and progresses through Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate (EAP1), and Advanced (EAP2) levels. Upon completion, you will achieve an English proficiency level equivalent to a 6.0 IELTS score. The EHE program adheres to ELICOS standards, making it recognized for entry into most VET and higher education courses in Australia (EAP for English for Academic Purposes).

The Preparation for IELTS program helps graduates obtain the IELTS certificate required for immigration purposes.

Generally, you can expect to improve by 0.5 IELTS points for each term of study (each term consists of 10 study weeks or 3 calendar months). You will engage in 20 hours of face-to-face instruction per week, including classroom activities guided by your teacher, as well as exercises and assessments. Additionally, you should plan to spend up to 15 hours per week on self-study.
