Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply advanced knowledge and skills in a range of strategic leadership and management roles. 

Individuals at this level make high level autonomous decisions and use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions in varied contexts. They have full responsibility and accountability for personal outputs and for the work or function of others.

They use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge, in order to generate ideas and provide solutions to complex problems. They use communication skills to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others.

Entry Requirement

  • Minimum age: 18 years old or over.
  • English Proficiency:
    • International students: IELTS overall score of 6.0 or equivalent, no less than 5.0 in each band (Please refer to the notes at the end of this page more details).
    • Domestic students: Must pass the Language, Literary and Numeracy (LLN) Test. Exemptions are considered upon request.
  • Academic: Entry to this qualification is limited to those who
    • Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification in related fields of study and 3 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise, or
    • Have completed a Bachelor degree in related fields of study and 2 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise, or
    • Have five years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning

Credit Transfer (CT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) are available for students who have studied business or management courses or have work experience in a business environment. If RPL and/or CT is granted, your study period and visa duration (for international students) will be shortened.

You can access all course learning and assessment materials using our Moodle system. The course materials fee is $200.

Course Structure

Our course has been designed to meet the requirements for the BSB80320 Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership. It contains 8 units of competency as follows:

  • Two core units of competency and
  • Six elective units of competency.

Delivery Mode and Total Volume of Learning

We offer a blended delivery mode of classroom learning and structured self-study. The course has 36 studying weeks (4 terms) during a period of 12 calendar months. 

During the term, you attend classes 14 hours per week and complete another 6 hours as structured self-study. On top of these, you study in your own time up to 15 hours per week then complete quizzes and assignments.

Assessment Method

Assessments are competency-based. The theoretical component of each unit is assessed in the form of written assignments, case studies, research projects, etc. while the practical component is assessed in a simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in the real business world.

Course Completion

Upon successful completion of all 8 units of competency of this course, you will receive the Australian nationally recognised qualification of the BSB80320 Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership which includes two documents, the Testamur and the Record of Results. If you do not complete all required 8 units, you will be issued a Statement of Attainment showing all units of competency that you have successfully completed.

Pathways

The BSB80320 is a Level 8 qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and is recognized by all AQF colleges. Upon successful completion of this qualification, you are eligible to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at universities or higher education providers (See course articulation information).

Training and Other Facilities

UPC campus is fully equipped with required facilities including modern computers with internet access, data projectors, photocopiers, and a mini kitchen and common area.

Typical Timetables

  • Day 1 and Day 2 (14 hours): Face-to-face study with the trainer (Teacher).
  • Six hours of structured self-study: You follow a study plan recommended by your Trainer.

Other information

International students are permitted to have paid work up to 48 hours per fortnight (every two weeks) during the academic term and have no hour limit during term breaks or holidays.

English Entry Requirement for International Students:

  • have completed (a) two years of your senior high school, or (b) an AQF Certificate IV or higher which was delivered in English language in Australia, or
  • come from an English-speaking country.
  • You may be required to sit for the UPC English Placement Test if deemed necessary.
